#jemxadr> Hi Stefan, how are you? END
<stefan:#jemxadr> Hi . Fine
<stefan:#jemxadr> END
<allan:#jemxadr> I think we can start, using CAO's agenda from the email yester
+day
<allan:#jemxadr> END
#jemxadr> Do you have anything special you want todiscuss, Stefan? END
<stefan:#jemxadr> No. END
#jemxadr> Peter will not be with us today. END
<allan:#jemxadr> I have an extra point concerning the GANT chart at the end of
<allan:#jemxadr> this meeting END
#jemxadr> First, action items from last meeting.
#jemxadr> Only two were due today, and both were on me, and I might get one don
+e today. That will be to deliver the ddd.sty to you all.
#jemxadr> I've still got to add about a half page of command summary to the lit
+tle manual/example document. And that will be done today. The other one, about
+ making a matrix of data and data structures for each telemetry format will fi
+rst get done ne
#jemxadr> xt week after I've filed RIDS for SA, QLA and ObsSim ADDs. END
<allan:#jemxadr> That sound fine. END
#jemxadr> The other two are on Allan and Peter and are due next week. So that's
+ okay too. END
#jemxadr> Now, about SA, QLA and ObsSim ADDs, has anyone other than me read the
+se?END
<allan:#jemxadr> Not is all details, but briefly, yes END
<stefan:#jemxadr> Hmmm, I just printed them..... END
<njw:#jemxadr> No that's next week's job END
#jemxadr> RIDs are due in on Monday. END
<njw:#jemxadr> Today's job then END
<allan:#jemxadr> Well, CA, let's know if you see problems in the
#jemxadr> I have a couple of comments. Do you want to hear them, or shall we sk
+ip over them? END
<allan:#jemxadr> JEMX part, where you think we should pay attention END
#jemxadr> Okay, in the QLA there is a general component for identifying sources
+ found in the FOV
#jemxadr> We already do this in JScientific analysis, and I have proposed that
+this component be dropped from the ISSW so that there is no duplicated effort
+on the code for that task.
#jemxadr> What do you guys and gals think before I fire off a RID? END
<allan:#jemxadr> I think, that this task is an ISDC task, which we
<allan:#jemxadr> aCTUALLY have discussed with Peter previously,
<allan:#jemxadr> but not reached any conclusion on
<allan:#jemxadr> THe idea of leaving it within the ISSW at the time
<allan:#jemxadr> was to make sure, that the task was identified as
#jemxadr> I agree, this should be a standardized ISDC process for all the found
+ source lists from all the instruments. END
<allan:#jemxadr> needed (there). Eventually, it may be a Danish person actuall
+y
<allan:#jemxadr> doing the job as part of the QLA at ISDC... :-)
<allan:#jemxadr> END
#jemxadr> So that one's worth a RID?END
<allan:#jemxadr> Conclusion, please fire the RID off! END
<njw:#jemxadr> Yes we need that discussion again END
#jemxadr> So that's one less component for you Stefan, with a bit of luck END
<stefan:#jemxadr> I will not complain END
#jemxadr> Another point from the QLA add: there's a Q-JemxiObsQla tentatively l
+isted, with large warning signs that this may not be needed. I'd like to know
+what decisions/actions/events/developements have to occur before we know for s
+ure whether the
#jemxadr> re will be an Jemx ObsQLA. Any ideas? END
<allan:#jemxadr> As we have discussed before, I DONT
<allan:#jemxadr> think it is feasible with an ObsQLA for JEMX
<allan:#jemxadr> Since there is not much more
<allan:#jemxadr> to gain by sampling all the dithered parts to
<allan:#jemxadr> one during the QLA.
<allan:#jemxadr> In SA and OffLine it is a different matter.
<allan:#jemxadr> END
#jemxadr> So it's a question of dithering and its uses? END
<allan:#jemxadr> The question is, if the QLA benefits from merging
<allan:#jemxadr> several pointings into one.
<allan:#jemxadr> In the JEMX case, I think we get the information we need
<allan:#jemxadr> from the individual pointings, (Science windows), and that
<allan:#jemxadr> we do not get so much more information from merging,
<allan:#jemxadr> that it has importance for Quick Look .
<allan:#jemxadr> END
<njw:#jemxadr> I agree with you, Allan, here is a case where QLA differs from S
+A END
#jemxadr> I think this point needs clarification in the QLA ADD END
#jemxadr> I'll write a RID accordingly. END
<allan:#jemxadr> One COULD, of course, make a mosaic image, but again, that sho
+uld be
<allan:#jemxadr> left with the SA.
<allan:#jemxadr> (I have noticed, that the IBIS people want that,
<allan:#jemxadr> but they also cover a much larger part of the sky with a much
<allan:#jemxadr> more complicated instrument, so they may gain something from
<allan:#jemxadr> doing it. I dont know to what extend they can
<allan:#jemxadr> use that information in the QL, though. Maybe to check-cross-
+check
<allan:#jemxadr> possible transients ... ) EBD
<allan:#jemxadr> EBD=END
#jemxadr> Your typing's much better this week, Allan! ENd
<allan:#jemxadr> :-) END
<stefan:#jemxadr> I agree with Allans comments. EBD
#jemxadr> Last point about the ADDs: they stress quite heavily in SA ADD that J
+dataBinning is only for non-imaging data. I also had the vague idea that event
+ energy values got binned to spectra somewhere around there. Can anyone help m
+e on this? END
<njw:#jemxadr> In the imaging modes the data will be binned already by the on-b
+oards SW END
#jemxadr> Where do these spectra appear in the telemetry? END
<njw:#jemxadr> The spectra are extracted in the SA i.e. as a part of source ana
+lysis END
<njw:#jemxadr> In the non-imaging modes there is no such source analysis END
<allan:#jemxadr> I see this extraction made in figure 6 p 19 in SA ADD. Is that
+
<allan:#jemxadr> the same you do CA?
#jemxadr> WHICH part of the source analysis? END
<allan:#jemxadr> END
<njw:#jemxadr> I don't have the exact reference but somewhere in the scientific
+ analysis
<allan:#jemxadr> I think we can look at this here at DSRI after this Chat
<allan:#jemxadr> Is that OK END
<njw:#jemxadr> the imaging and spectral data are extracted END
<njw:#jemxadr> Let's do that END
#jemxadr> I'll make an action item for myself to look into this spectral extrac
+tion for imaging data. END
#jemxadr> That's all my big comments on the ADDs. Of course there's missing inp
+uts and outputs, but that's quite trivial. Next on the agenda: how's it going
+inviting background-experienced folk for a get together? END
<allan:#jemxadr> I have made arrangements for the financial
<allan:#jemxadr> part, and suggest to invite a person to a meeting
<allan:#jemxadr> here at DSRI in January. Is that time frame
<allan:#jemxadr> acceptable to you? He/she will be invited for two days,
<allan:#jemxadr> enabling discussions with us, and to give a seminar here at
<allan:#jemxadr> DSRI.
<allan:#jemxadr> END
#jemxadr> I think it's mostly of importance to the Helsinki people that it fit
+in with their schedule. END
<allan:#jemxadr> PS I suggest this to be a regular SDAST meeting with expert
<allan:#jemxadr> participation END
<njw:#jemxadr> Sounds good END
<stefan:#jemxadr> Fine with me. END
#jemxadr> It sounds good to me, but then I only have to cycle from Frederiksber
+g. What do those who have to come from further afield think? END
<malmivaa:#jemxadr> That sound very good END
#jemxadr> Will you still be with us then Kirsi? END
<malmivaa:#jemxadr> Unfortunately no END

#jemxadr> Would that be okay with Juhani? END
<malmivaa:#jemxadr> I think Juhani will get back to you later about that END
<stefan:#jemxadr> Unfortunatly I have to leave. Any question for me before I do
+?
#jemxadr> Any other business? END
<allan:#jemxadr> OK, lets decide on the date next week.
<allan:#jemxadr> END
<allan:#jemxadr> Yes, I plan to publish the GANT chart today.
<allan:#jemxadr> Note, that the starting date is about a month ago, and
<allan:#jemxadr> that may influence on the finishing date.
<allan:#jemxadr> The idea is, that you keep a close look at your own
<allan:#jemxadr> 'bar
<allan:#jemxadr> lit of dependencies. I dont expect the chart to be complete
<allan:#jemxadr> yet, but in a few months time I hope it can be a good tool
<allan:#jemxadr> for all of us to keep track on how far we are and where the
<allan:#jemxadr> bottlenecks are. Hopefully, we can then assist eachother gett
+ing
<allan:#jemxadr> through the toughest parts more easily.
<allan:#jemxadr> END
<allan:#jemxadr> That's it ! ?
<allan:#jemxadr> END
#jemxadr> Good, that sounds fine. Anything else? END
<stefan:#jemxadr> Would it be OK for the rest of you to start these chats half
+an hour earlier? We have semars at 10.30 on Fridays END
<allan:#jemxadr> OK END
<njw:#jemxadr> 9.30 is fine with me END
<malmivaa:#jemxadr> OK END
<stefan:#jemxadr> (semars=seminars) END
#jemxadr> 9.30 is fine with me END
<allan:#jemxadr> CA, please inform Peter about the change ... END
#jemxadr> I will do that END
#jemxadr> The notes on the meeting will be in the usual place on the DSRI home
+page in about an hour. END
#jemxadr> If there's nothing else: See you all next week !END
<allan:#jemxadr> Fine, thanks and goodbye END
