Though the gain history is broken up by short periods when the instrument was
switched off, the smoothing has worked well, and the gain correction should
be good. Also, relatively little noise and no large glitches. The sharp rise
at the beginning of the revolution is due to ion motion in the microstrip plate
that occurs after the switch on of the high voltage to the plate.
